With Pride & Purpose, Abena McClendon is running for Winslow Township Ward 3 Committeewoman to ensure that every resident is seen, heard, and served. Her campaign is rooted in practical solutions, community-driven leadership, and a deep commitment to moving Winslow forward.
Abena’s vision focuses on strengthening the foundation of the township while preparing for a sustainable future. She is committed to fixing local roads through smarter budgeting and strong county partnerships, strengthening public safety by supporting first responders and investing in youth, and promoting responsible growth that balances development with the preservation of green spaces. She also prioritizes tax fairness by reducing waste and expanding the tax base, and believes transparency is essential—advocating for open meetings, accessible public records, and consistent town hall engagement.
A dedicated community leader, Abena brings years of service across local government, education, nonprofit leadership, and civic engagement. Her work reflects a consistent focus on empowering residents, supporting families, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
She currently serves on multiple Winslow Township committees, including Special Events, Juneteenth, and Family Day, and previously served as a School Board Member and Marketing Chair. Her leadership extends beyond the township as a Board Member of the Camden County Historical Society and Rutgers University Family Council, as well as through her work with Village of Camden County Inc., where she supports youth development through financial education, mentoring, and mental health awareness.
Abena is also an active leader within her faith community at Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church, where she has held multiple leadership roles, and within Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she has led impactful programs focused on voter education, human trafficking awareness, and civic engagement.
Her commitment to advocacy reaches the state and national level, organizing legislative advocacy efforts and educating young people on critical issues such as voting rights and public safety.
